More than 5,000 US Navy personnel expected in Phuket for October port call

More than 5,000 US Navy personnel are expected in Phuket when two American warships make a port call from 4 to 9 October, according to a report by The Thaiger.
The USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier is due to bring about 4,800 personnel, while the guided-missile destroyer USS Delbert D. Black is carrying around 320. Both ships are scheduled to dock at Phuket Deep Sea Port in Wichit, allowing their crews time ashore on the island.
The 333-metre USS George H.W. Bush is a nuclear-powered Nimitz-class carrier capable of carrying about 90 aircraft. The visit follows a similar port call by the USS Abraham Lincoln at Laem Chabang earlier in September, which involved more than 5,000 personnel.
