Myanmar man found stabbed to death in Cherng Talay
Police in Cherng Talay are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 45-year-old Myanmar man whose body was found near an abandoned building on Tuesday morning.
A 45-year-old Myanmar man was found stabbed to death near an abandoned building in Cherng Talay on Tuesday morning, and police are investigating the killing.
Officers from Cherng Talay Police Station were called to the scene in Soi Koktanod 12, Moo 6, at about 7am after receiving a report that a body had been discovered.
Deputy Investigator Pol Lt Kanyasuda Kaewka responded to the call and informed Cherng Talay Police Chief Pol Col Ekkarat Plaiduang before proceeding to the scene with investigators led by Pol Maj Chanasin Prateep Na Thalang. Forensic specialists from Vachira Phuket Hospital, officers from the Phuket Provincial Forensic Science Unit and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation also attended.
At the scene, officers found the body of a man later identified as Mee Min Zaw, 45, a Myanmar national. He was lying on his side in grass near the abandoned building.
A preliminary examination found that the victim had suffered two stab wounds to the left side of his rib cage. Investigators also recovered a pair of black sandals believed to belong to the victim and a knife sheath found near the body.
Police conducted an initial examination before the body was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
According to police, there were no immediate suspects and no reports of property being stolen. Investigators are gathering evidence and reviewing possible leads to identify the person responsible.
Police have not disclosed how long the victim had been dead before his body was discovered, and the motive remains under investigation. Pol Col Ekkarat said officers were continuing efforts to track down the perpetrator and bring them to justice.
