Myanmar national detained over unlicensed childcare centre in Phuket

Wichit police detained a 40-year-old Myanmar woman on 26 August 2026 after finding her operating an unauthorised childcare facility in a rented row house in Phuket.

Officers from Wichit Police Station, accompanied by the village headman, inspected the site following complaints from local residents. Police charged the woman with working outside the scope permitted for foreign nationals and establishing a childcare centre without a licence.

She was taken into custody while investigators gather further evidence to determine whether additional charges should be filed before prosecution.
