Myanmar student expelled after reported school restroom fight in Phuket

A school in Choeng Thale, Phuket, has expelled a female student from Myanmar following a fight involving six female students in a school restroom on 5 August 2026, according to a report published on 11 August.

The incident followed alleged slanderous remarks between two groups, the report said. A video of the attack later circulated online, showing what was described as severe physical abuse. The mother of the alleged 14-year-old victim filed an additional police complaint on 6 August to pursue legal action. The victim’s family rejected a B3,000 compensation offer from the Myanmar student’s family.

Officials and Akkarawut Kraisisombat visited the alleged victim and her family on 10 August to offer support and discuss safety concerns. The girl reportedly continued to experience physical pain and feared for her safety.

School director Charuwat Wikromtheeranant met education officials and a psychologist to discuss support for the alleged victim and stronger campus security. The school said children from outside had entered the premises before the incident and that it planned to reinforce access controls.

The school is investigating an allegation that a Myanmar student planned to lure the alleged victim into the restroom. The Secondary Education Service Area Office has deployed psychologists to assist the girl and is preparing violence-prevention training for staff.
