350 officers mobilised for Songkran safety

A total of 350 officers have been mobilised across Phuket ahead of Songkran, police announced on April 8, 2026. The deployment aims to boost public safety during the holiday, which is expected to draw large crowds to the island’s main tourist areas.

Checkpoints and Enforcement Measures

Authorities have set up multiple checkpoints at key intersections and entry points to monitor traffic and deter drunk driving. Police said the operation will focus on enforcing helmet use, seatbelt compliance, and speed limits.

In addition to road safety, officers are tasked with crowd control at popular Songkran celebration sites. Patrols will also target illegal water-splashing activities and the sale of alcohol to minors, officials said.
