Officials dismiss claims of B500 parking fee at Bang Wad Dam

Phuket officials have found no evidence that motorists were charged B500 to park on public land at the entrance to Bang Wad Dam in Kathu, dismissing claims made in a social media post as unfounded.

The investigation was launched on July 15 after the post alleged that the area was being operated as a paid parking site. It questioned where the money was going and whether motorists were being issued receipts.

Phuket Province ordered the fact-finding investigation by the Kathu District security team, working with Kathu Municipality and local community leaders. Officials inspected the entrance to Bang Wad Dam and areas within the dam grounds, and interviewed local residents and people living nearby.

The province said the investigation found no evidence of anyone charging B500 per vehicle to park on public land in the area.

Officials urged the public to verify information with government agencies or other reliable sources before sharing it online, saying this would help prevent misunderstandings and unnecessary confusion.
