One killed after car crashes into roadside shops in Phuket

A 58-year-old woman was killed and a 33-year-old man injured when a car crashed into three roadside businesses on Airport Road in Sakhu, Thalang district, Phuket, on 23 September 2026.

Police and emergency responders were called to the scene at about 9.30am after a grey MG 4 crashed into the Health Express pharmacy on Moo 1. The impact damaged the pharmacy and shattered its windows. The injured man was taken to Thalang Hospital, while the woman’s body was sent there for a post-mortem examination.

Police said CCTV footage showed the car travelling along the road before entering the businesses at speed. It hit Jann-Prod Thai Street Food, the Health Express pharmacy and Phuket Summer massage shop. The woman, who was selling goods outside the Thai Street Food shop, died at the scene.

The 41-year-old driver remained at the scene and was taken to Sakhu police station for alcohol and drug testing. Police said the circumstances of the crash were still being investigated.
