Patong locker opened over unpaid rent reveals 5 guns, 100 rounds — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Police in Phuket found five handguns and 100 rounds of ammunition in a rented storage locker in Patong after the Swedish renter failed to pay for more than four months, officials said Thursday. The seizure was reported at 10.20am on May 14 after officers were called to witness the opening of the unit a day earlier at a storage facility inside a shopping mall in tambon Patong.

Police trace renter and weapon registrations
The company’s authorized representative told Patong police the locker was rented under the name Elmi Ahmed Mohamed, a Swedish national who had fallen behind on payments for more than 120 days and could not be contacted.
Police were asked to attend when the company opened locker No. 2184 on the second floor under its standard procedure for checking property left in overdue units.
A preliminary inspection found four 9mm Glock pistols and one CZ pistol inside the locker.
Officers also found two boxes of 9mm ammunition, with 50 rounds in each box, for a total of 100 rounds.
Police said every firearm carried a registration number. All weapons and ammunition were seized as evidence while officers verify the registrations and investigate the origin of the guns and whether they were legally possessed.
