Patong Police arrest foreign tourist for using a high-pressure water gun to spray officers while on duty.

Patong Police arrested a foreign tourist in Phuket on April 14 after he used a high-pressure water gun to spray officers on duty during the Songkran festival. The incident took place near the operations tent in Patong Municipality, where a group of more than ten foreign tourists targeted police with high-pressure water guns, authorities said.

Social Media Footage and Police Response

Three separate video clips circulated on social media showed the group spraying officers stationed at the Songkran operations tent on Patong Beach. In one clip, police were seen running to avoid injury as the water jets hit them.

Another video, filmed from inside a vehicle, captured the group surrounding and spraying the officers. A third clip documented police chasing and detaining the foreign tourists involved in the incident.

Police confirmed that at least one tourist was taken into custody and transferred to Patong Police Station for further legal action. Officers stated the use of high-pressure water guns in this manner exceeded festive behavior and posed a risk of injury to law enforcement personnel.
