Patong police arrested a 30-year-old man at a condo on Nanai Rd and seized 134 e-cigarettes during an ongoing crackdown on illegal vaping products.

Patong police arrested a 30-year-old man at a condo on Nanai Rd on Saturday, July 4, and seized 134 INFY-brand e-cigarettes, authorities said.

The arrest was carried out by officers from the Patong Police investigation unit as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal e-cigarettes. Police investigators led by Pol Lt Wirithphon Thibarat and Pol Lt Sawai Chusawat arrested the suspect, identified as Chawalit Nonthongplu.

During a search of the room, officers found and seized 134 e-cigarettes, according to the report.

Mr Chawalit was charged with possessing goods that had allegedly been brought into Thailand without passing through customs procedures. Police said the charge falls under Section 246 of the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017), which covers the concealment, sale, transport or possession of smuggled goods.

He was taken to Patong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
