Patong police arrested seven Myanmar nationals during an operation at Ban San Fresh Market in Patong, accusing them of working illegally and, in two cases, violating Thailand’s Foreign Business Act.

Police said officers inspected stalls and businesses in the market as part of a targeted operation focused on suspected illegal labor activity.

Those arrested were identified as Ngwe Thein, 51, who was charged with working without a work permit; Nu Nu Win, 50, who was accused of operating a business without authorization under the Foreign Business Act of 1999 and failing to register foreign workers; Si Si Mon, 40, who was charged with working without a work permit and failing to notify authorities of her employer and workplace; Zin Mar Win, 35, who was charged with working illegally; Aye Thiri Soe, 21, who was accused of working without a permit and failing to notify authorities of employment details; Ei Ei Pan, 23, who faced similar charges; and Phyu Phyu Win, 37, who was accused of running a vegetable stall without authorization under the Foreign Business Act and failing to register foreign workers.

Police said they seized a mobile phone and a PromptPay QR code linked to Nu Nu Win’s account, as well as an Oppo mobile phone from Phyu Phyu Win.

Authorities said all seven suspects were taken into custody and handed over to investigators at Patong Police Station for legal proceedings.
