Patong Police explain the chase of 7 tourists was due to spraying water and disturbing others — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Patong Police said the chase and detention of seven French tourists on April 12 was prompted by reports of water spraying and public disturbance on Prachanukhro Road in Phuket. Officers responded after receiving complaints that a group of foreigners were obstructing traffic and disturbing others by playing with water beyond acceptable limits, police said.
Police Response and Enforcement Actions
Upon arrival, police found several tourists blocking the road and disrupting motorists, according to official statements. Officers ordered the group to disperse, but seven individuals did not comply.
The seven French nationals were arrested on charges of causing public nuisance. Police issued fines and formally warned the group against repeating the offense.
Following the incident, Patong Police advised local businesses and residents along Prachanukhro Road not to place water containers or engage in water play that could obstruct traffic or disturb others. Police noted that officers typically expect to get wet during such events each year.
