Phuket and Mongolia discuss tourism and trade cooperation
Talks at Phuket Provincial Hall focused on Mongolian tourism, direct flights and opportunities to expand Thai product exports.
Phuket and Mongolia have discussed strengthening tourism, trade and wider economic cooperation during a meeting at Phuket Provincial Hall.
Honorary Consul Natthaphong Panthakiatpaisarn paid a courtesy call on Phuket Governor Chotinarin. Tourism was a key focus, with the meeting noting Phuket’s popularity among Mongolian visitors and the importance of direct flights between Ulaanbaatar and Phuket. The flights take about five and a half hours.
The talks also covered opportunities to increase Thai exports to Mongolia. Officials said demand for Thai fruit is strong because Mongolia’s climate limits domestic production of tropical produce.
Governor Chotinarin said Phuket’s seafood industry had export potential and suggested exploring new trade channels for businesses in the province. The meeting also included exchanges on governance, society and the differing contexts of Thailand and Mongolia.
Both sides expressed a commitment to closer cooperation, while Chotinarin said Phuket was ready to use its position as an international tourism hub to support future ties with Mongolia.
