Phuket approves 9 mobile vendors under Thai Helps Thai subsidy plan

Phuket approved nine mobile vendors under the Thai Helps Thai support program on May 11, after a provincial selection meeting led by Vice Governor Adul Chuthong at Phuket Provincial Hall. The Ministry of Commerce-backed scheme will subsidize approved vendors so they can transport and sell low-cost goods across Phuket, with the province set to announce the selected operators today, May 12, at district offices.

Applications were open from May 1-7, and Thalang drew the strongest response. Officials said quotas were set by the Department of Internal Trade.

Subsidies, district approvals and operating requirements

Thalang received 27 applications, with 11 formally submitted and six approved after screening. Mueang Phuket District approved two applicants, while Kathu District approved one.

Approved vendors will receive weekly fuel support based on vehicle size: B750 for large vehicles, B375 for medium vehicles and B250 for small vehicles.

To join the program, vendors must register through the Department of Provincial Administration system, pass provincial screening, join a LINE coordination group and install the Thailand Post application used for ordering goods.

Officials said district offices will also issue operating guidelines, approved selling areas and product distribution procedures. Vendors must clearly display prices and keep products consistently available to improve access to affordable consumer goods.
