Phuket City Municipality invites visitors to Por Tor Festival
The Por Tor Festival 2026, a Chinese community tradition honouring ancestors, will run in Phuket through 10 September.
Phuket City Municipality is inviting residents and tourists to attend the Por Tor Festival 2026, which will run through 10 September 2026.
The festival is a tradition of Phuket’s Chinese community centred on rituals of gratitude and prayers for prosperity and longevity. Mayor Supachok La-ongpetch stressed its importance in honouring ancestors.
A central feature is the “Por Tor Turtle” cake, a red turtle-shaped pastry symbolising long life, stability and good fortune.
The municipality has decorated the city for the celebrations, including the Suriyadet Fountain Roundabout, which has been turned into a cultural spot for walking, photography and experiencing the festival’s traditions.
