Phuket concrete truck driver shot dead; co-worker arrested
A 32-year-old concrete mixer driver was shot dead on Thep Krasattri Road in Thalang, with police later arresting a co-worker over the killing.
A concrete mixer driver was shot dead while riding home from work on Thep Krasattri Road in Thalang, Phuket, with police later arresting a co-worker over the killing.
Kittiphit Chinda, 32, was shot once in the right temple and died at the scene beside the northbound lanes near the airport underpass on the night of Wednesday, 17 September.
Thalang police arrested Sommai, 34, later that night. Police said Sommai lived in Pa Khlok, also in Thalang, and drove for the same concrete company as Kittiphit.
Provincial and Thalang police questioned Sommai and held him as the investigation continued. Forensic officers collected gunshot-residue samples for testing.
Investigators later took Sommai to Bang Sai Yamu Beach in Pa Khlok to search for the firearm, which they believed had been hidden after the shooting. The gun had not been recovered.
Sommai was charged with homicide, illegal possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm in public. Thalang police were continuing to investigate the motive.
