Phuket emergency medical center joins workshop to boost outbreak readiness

Phuket Emergency Medical Center took part in a high-level workshop on May 13 to review emergency response plans and improve readiness for possible epidemic or pandemic scenarios in Phuket. The session was held at Phuket Deep Sea Port under the direction of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization President Rewat Areerob.

The center joined a comprehensive exercise that linked public health planning with coordinated emergency response. Officials said the workshop was aimed at strengthening preparedness for public health emergencies.

Exercise led by Dr. Kanchana

Dr. Kanchana Phanitpichethwong led the Phuket Emergency Medical Center delegation during the session.

Participants worked through an integrated exercise built to connect health-sector strategy with operational emergency coordination. The program brought multiple agencies together in a single planning and response framework.

Focus on surveillance, prevention and rapid response

The workshop centered on inter-agency teamwork to improve three core capacities: surveillance, prevention and rapid response.

Officials said the effort was intended to reinforce confidence in the province’s health infrastructure. They said stronger epidemic readiness also supports Phuket’s wider public health protection strategy while helping maintain its standing as a leading global tourism destination.
