Phuket faces thunderstorms and rough seas on September 28
The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms across 60% of Phuket and the southern west coast, with isolated heavy rain and waves reaching more than two metres in storms.
Phuket is forecast to experience thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain on September 28, with rough seas expected along the southern west coast, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) said.
The forecast covers the 24 hours from 6am on September 28 to 6am on September 29. Thunderstorms are expected across 60% of the southern west coast, including Phuket, Ranong and Phang Nga, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 34°C.
From Phang Nga southwards, south-westerly winds are forecast at 15–35km/h. Waves are expected to reach 1–2 metres and rise above two metres during thunderstorms.
The TMD also advised small boats in the upper Andaman Sea to remain ashore through September 28. Vessels elsewhere in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand were told to proceed cautiously and avoid thunderstorms.
The department said a relatively strong south-west monsoon was continuing to cover the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
