Phuket governor orders urgent response after student injured in school fight
A 14-year-old girl was injured during a fight involving six students at Cherngtalay Wittayakom School in Thalang district.
Phuket Governor Chotnarin Kerdsom has ordered local agencies to provide urgent support after a 14-year-old girl was injured in a physical altercation at Cherngtalay Wittayakom School in Thalang district.
Police from Cherngtalay Station were called to the school at about 1.30pm on 5 August 2026 after reports of a fight. Officers found six teenage girls involved in the confrontation, which the report said arose from ongoing disputes between student groups. A video of the incident has circulated on social media.
The injured student suffered bruising to her left eye and arm and abrasions to her left knee. She was treated at Thalang Hospital, where medical records and initial witness statements were documented.
The governor instructed the Thalang district chief, the Phuket Provincial Education Office, the provincial Child and Youth Shelter and the school director to visit the student and her family. The agencies were also directed to reassure parents, support student safety and address underlying issues to help prevent a recurrence.
The student’s mother filed a formal complaint with investigators on 6 August, requesting legal action against those responsible. Police said their inquiry was continuing, with evidence and witness testimony being collected in accordance with legal procedures.
