Phuket was included in a Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) warning for strong winds and waves on Sunday, 9 August 2026, as persistent heavy rain affected parts of Thailand.
The warning also covered Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong and Phang Nga. The DDPM separately warned of flash floods, run-off and short-term waterlogging in several northern and northeastern provinces.
Water agencies forecast that the Mekong River would rise by 1.0 to 1.5 metres between 8 and 12 August, with low-lying areas in several northeastern provinces at risk of flooding.
