Phuket launches AI workshop to improve government services
The workshop, titled ‘Applying AI to Enhance Government Work Efficiency and Public Services’, was officially opened at The Pago Design Hotel Phuket yesterday (May 12) by Phuket Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam.
Phuket officials opened an AI workshop at The Pago Design Hotel Phuket on May 12 aimed at improving government administration and public services. Phuket Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam presided over the opening of the programme, titled “Applying AI to Enhance Government Work Efficiency and Public Services,” attended by provincial officials, employees and district personnel.
Officials said the training was intended to build practical artificial intelligence skills for document management and service delivery, with a focus on making administrative work faster and more accurate.
Training covers legal compliance and agency problem-solving
The workshop also addressed safeguards for AI use in government work. Organisers said sessions covered lawful and secure deployment, including compliance with computer crime regulations and Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act, or PDPA.
Jarunee Thongsai, director of the Phuket Provincial Office Human Resource Management Group, was among those attending the event.
Morning sessions introduced Generative AI and ChatGPT through the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, or Depa. Participants also joined practical workshops on Prompt Engineering and Canva AI.
Officials said attendees were split into groups to identify operational pain points in their own organisations and propose AI-based solutions. Afternoon sessions then moved to a case study on successful AI use in government work by Veerawat Lienudom, followed by workshops on document creation and administrative management.
Ideas developed during the training will be refined into operational guidelines for agencies across Phuket to reduce administrative errors, improve efficiency and strengthen public services.
