Phuket MP says 19 tsunami warning towers are operational
The 19 tsunami warning towers in Phuket are operating normally and undergo siren tests every Wednesday, according to Phuket MP Chaloemphong Saengdee.
Phuket MP Chaloemphong Saengdee said on 16 August 2026 that all 19 tsunami warning towers in the province were operational and being checked regularly.
The warning sirens are tested every Wednesday to ensure the system can issue alerts effectively, he said. Any tower found to have a faulty siren or other system problem is reported to the responsible agency, which sends technicians to inspect and repair it as quickly as possible.
Saengdee urged residents in coastal areas to follow information from government agencies closely and comply with officials’ instructions if an alert is issued.
