Government officials joined talks on improving management of financial service operators and aligning foreign exchange services with international standards to support continued tourism growth.
The meeting linked financial governance directly to the island’s wider economy. Officials said stronger oversight would support confidence among international tourists and investors while protecting Phuket’s reputation as a world-class destination.
AML training plans and transparency goals
TAFEXS presented plans for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing training during the session. The association invited local government agencies to join programmes designed to improve understanding of relevant laws.
Officials said the proposed AML/CFT programmes were also intended to strengthen transparency and accountability in financial business operations. The discussions were framed as part of broader government policy on financial transparency and money-laundering prevention.
Phuket authorities said maintaining strong financial governance remained important to economic stability. Relevant government agencies attended the meeting alongside the visiting delegation.
