Phuket officials propose revoking two cannabis shop licences and suspending one

Mueang Phuket officials have proposed revoking the licences of two cannabis shops and suspending another for 90 days after inspections found breaches of licence conditions on Sept. 21, 2026.

The shops inspected were Cava Weed Shop and Me Kush Cannabis Shop in Phuket Town, and Chookird Shop in Ratsada. The inspections were carried out by the Mueang Phuket District Office, the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office and the Mueang Phuket District Public Health Office.

According to the Mueang Phuket District Office, all three shops held valid cannabis sales licences but had failed to comply with their conditions. Officials proposed revoking two licences over allegations that cannabis was allowed to be smoked inside the premises and that false sales reports had been submitted.

A 90-day suspension was proposed for the third shop. Authorities did not explain why suspension was recommended instead of revocation.

The proposed penalties will proceed through the relevant agencies and procedures, the district office said.

The inspections were part of continuing checks on cannabis businesses in Phuket following tighter regulations on cannabis sales and use. The Phuket Provincial Public Health Office reported that, as of Aug. 28, 2026, authorities had revoked 35 cannabis shop licences and suspended 112 others. Phuket had 1,065 registered cannabis shops, down from 1,089 previously.

Authorities had also begun legal action against 17 shops accused of selling cannabis without a licence or while their licences were suspended. A further 23 shops were found to have violated Section 6(10) of the Food Act 1979.
