Phuket opens fifth annual back-to-school aid program for 30 students

Phuket opened its fifth annual back-to-school aid program at Lotus Phuket (Samkong) on Sunday, May 18, with Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam presiding over the 2026 launch ceremony. Organisers said the project is providing clothing and essential educational supplies to 30 disadvantaged children and youths, with 10 students selected from each of Mueang Phuket, Kathu and Thalang.
The programme was organised by the Phuket Provincial Children and Family Shelter with agencies under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, alongside government offices, private-sector representatives and civil society groups. Officials said the initiative is intended to reduce family costs at the start of the school year.
Support includes uniforms, school supplies and technology
Namthap Rodsut said the project has been carried out continuously for five years and is designed to help students continue their education with practical support. Assistance includes school uniforms, educational supplies and access to technology intended to support long-term study and development.
Organisers said children at the event were able to choose and purchase their own clothing and school items with help from partner organisations and volunteers. They described the atmosphere as positive and welcoming.
Suwit said education is a foundation for improving quality of life and strengthening social stability. He added that cooperation between public and private sectors is important in expanding educational opportunities for young people in need.
