A video featuring messages and photographs from 100 Thai supporters has been displayed on a giant billboard in New York’s Times Square ahead of Phuket performer Nene Royal’s live quarter-final on America’s Got Talent Season 21.

Nene, whose full name is Praew Rattikarn Amloy, is scheduled to compete in the second live quarter-final on Tuesday 25 August in the United States. The broadcast falls on Wednesday 26 August in Thailand.

Her progress will be decided by public voting after the live performance. Nene has appealed to relatives, fans and other supporters in the United States and Puerto Rico to vote for her.

CP Brand, working with Plan B, produced the support video, which carries the message “NENE GO GO!”. The campaign invited supporters to post public photographs of themselves holding messages of encouragement for Nene on social media using the hashtag #CheerNenewithCP. One hundred photographs and messages were selected for the Times Square display.

Before leaving for the United States with her family, Nene said she had prepared extensively for the live round and wanted to improve on her two previous performances, according to Nation Thailand. Her father, Narong Amloy, said the family had used lessons from the earlier rounds to prepare and had planned a surprise for the audience.

The live quarter-finals feature 44 contestants divided into four groups of 11, with performances and results spread across four weeks. Contestants who advance will compete in the semi-finals on 15 and 16 September. The season finale is scheduled for 22 September, with the winner due to be announced on 23 September.

Viewers in Thailand can follow the programme on True X-Zyte, Channel 340, and through TrueVisions NOW.
