Phuket plans parade for America’s Got Talent Season 21 champion Nene

Phuket authorities are preparing a parade to welcome Nene, a 16-year-old Phuket resident who won Season 21 of America’s Got Talent, according to a provincial spokesperson.

The province is coordinating with the event team on a welcoming ceremony after Nene returns to Thailand. The planned parade would travel through Phuket City Municipality and nearby areas, with Nene and her family riding on an open-air vehicle so residents can offer congratulations and support.

Officials are also discussing the use of electric vehicles with Phuket City Municipality and the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation to promote an environmentally conscious image.

The provincial spokesperson said Nene’s success could benefit Phuket in three areas: tourism, youth inspiration and the promotion of Thai soft power. A mentor on the programme reportedly described Phuket as a “Best Place to Visit”, which officials said could attract global attention during the high season. The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects visitor numbers to Phuket to rise and generate substantial local revenue, the spokesperson said.

Phuket authorities, together with the provincial administrative organisation, the municipality and Central Phuket, are also preparing a music contest to give young people a platform to showcase their abilities.

The Culture Ministry has prepared a special gift and a Thai costume for Nene as part of efforts to promote Thai culture internationally.

Her return date has not yet been finalised. Officials are coordinating with her representatives after she completed a short concert at a Thai restaurant in the United States and said they would announce the schedule once it is confirmed.
