Phuket plans Pride Month 2027 as annual June event
A 33-member working group is preparing Phuket’s Pride Month 2027 programme, while eligible organisations can apply for Gender Equality Promotion Fund support by 31 January.
Phuket officials have begun preparing Pride Month 2027, with the province seeking to make the June event a regular fixture on its official annual events calendar.
The first meeting of the 33-member working group was held at Phuket Provincial Hall on 24 September 2026. It was chaired by Deputy Governor Romdon Hayiawae on behalf of Governor Chotinarin Kerd-som, with representatives from government agencies, local administrative organisations, the private sector and civil society reviewing a draft programme for the 2027 fiscal year.
The Phuket Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) said the initiative is intended to promote gender equality, protect rights and prevent discrimination based on gender. The provincial MSDHS office serves as the working group’s secretariat and is responsible for preparing activity plans, coordinating with participating organisations, monitoring implementation and addressing operational problems.
The group also discussed support available through the Gender Equality Promotion Fund. The fund supports projects promoting gender equality and preventing unfair discrimination, along with campaigns, public relations, training, planning, data collection and research. MSDHS Phuket said local government agencies and non-governmental organisations interested in applying for the relevant funding round must submit applications by 31 January 2027.
The draft programme includes workshops and other activities by the provincial MSDHS office to promote gender equality within families, including its “Gender Equality Family” project. Activities are planned for early 2027 and again during May and June.
Phuket City Municipality is preparing June decorations around the city and plans to hold the Phuket Pride Parade on the last Saturday of June. The planned route starts at the 72nd Anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday Park, commonly known as Queen Sirikit Park, and ends at the Chartered Bank intersection. A mini-concert and performances by LGBTQIAN+ groups are planned on a stage in front of the Government Savings Bank on Phang Nga Road.
The Andaman Power Phuket Association, also known as Phuket Pride, is preparing a separate Phuket Pride Festival 2027 in Patong. Its planned programme includes a traditional parade, main-stage performances, concerts, the Miss Queen Andaman Power pageant, and “Pride Talk” meetings and panel discussions on equality. Pride Sports and beach volleyball events are also planned for May, along with rainbow-themed decorations in Phuket and at Patong landmarks during May and June.
The working group is inviting government agencies, local administrative organisations, businesses and civil society groups to submit additional activities for inclusion. Officials will continue reviewing the proposed activities and implementation arrangements before finalising the programme.
