Phuket police said they arrested a 27-year-old suspect accused of a string of thefts and burglaries in Wichit, Kathu and other parts of the island.
Police in Phuket have arrested a 27-year-old man accused of carrying out a series of burglaries across the island, according to authorities.
Officers from Wichit Police Station executed a warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court and found the suspect, identified only as Mr. Sun, hiding in the ceiling of a rented room in Sri Sunthorn Subdistrict in Thalang district. He was taken into custody and brought to Wichit Police Station for questioning and further investigation.
Police said the suspect had repeatedly targeted neighborhoods in Wichit, Kathu and possibly other districts. Authorities linked him to several incidents in June.
On June 13, he allegedly cut motorcycle fuel lines at an apartment complex in Wichit and siphoned petrol into bottles. On June 14, he was accused of breaking into coin-operated washing machines in Na Suea Soi. On June 19, police said he stole shoes, clothing, cash and personal belongings from a residence at Central Residence in Wichit.
Authorities also linked him to thefts at bars in Kathu and said he remains wanted in a separate firearms case.
Police believe the suspect may be connected to additional crimes across Phuket and said they are coordinating with other stations as the investigation expands.
