Anti-narcotics officers in Phuket have arrested a 44-year-old man and seized 400.03 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 14,128 methamphetamine pills during a raid in Ratsada as part of the nationwide 90-day anti-drug campaign.

The arrest was made at about 4pm on Wednesday, June 8, when officers from the Phuket Provincial Police Investigation Division Narcotics Suppression Unit raided the suspect’s home in Soi Bang Chee Lao, Moo 2, Ratsada, in Mueang Phuket District. The operation was conducted under the command of Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert Sukhum and senior investigative officers.

Police identified the suspect as Thawatchai “Yoi” Yanayon, 44. Officers said they seized 400.03 grams of crystal methamphetamine, also known as ice, and 14,128 methamphetamine tablets, commonly known as yaba. Authorities also confiscated a Honda Forza motorcycle valued at about 200,000 baht as an asset believed to be connected to the alleged drug offences.

Investigators charged Thawatchai with possessing and selling Category 1 narcotics, including ice and methamphetamine, with intent to sell without permission for commercial purposes. Police said the offence affected public safety and national security. He also faces a charge of illegal use of Category 1 narcotics.

After the arrest, the suspect was handed over to investigators at Muang Phuket Police Station for further legal action.

Officials said the case forms part of Phuket Provincial Police’s 90-day anti-drug campaign, aimed at suppressing drug trafficking and related crime across the island. The seizure adds to Phuket’s contribution to the wider anti-drug campaign being carried out across the country.
