Two people were arrested in Talat Yai on 7 October over the alleged unauthorised sale of firecrackers and fireworks ahead of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival.

Phuket City police arrested two people on 7 October 2026 for allegedly selling firecrackers and fireworks without a licence, seizing 3,049 items in Talat Yai, Mueang Phuket district.

The arrests took place at the entrance to Soi Ton Pho and at Saphan Hin Public Park. Police said the seized goods included various types of firecrackers and fireworks.

The operation was directed by Police Colonel Chatri Chukaew, superintendent of Phuket City Police Station, with Police Captain Anirut Thongphueng, deputy investigation inspector, leading the investigation team.

The two suspects and the seized items were transferred to investigators at Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities said the operation formed part of heightened security measures across Phuket during the 2026 Vegetarian Festival.
