Police in Kathu are investigating a serious crash after a white sports sedan hit the rear of a pickup truck waiting at a red light on Wichitsongkram Road late on May 28.
Phuket police are investigating a serious late-night collision involving a luxury sports sedan and a pickup truck on Wichitsongkram Road in Kathu.
Officers from Kathu Police Station said they received reports of the crash at 11:53 p.m. on May 28 at the intersection in front of Prince of Songkla University. Emergency responders went to the scene.
There, they found a white sports car with red license plates had crashed into the rear of a pickup truck that was waiting at a red light to turn into the university. Police said the force of the impact caused the pickup to overturn in the middle of the road.
Rescue workers assisted the injured and took them to hospital. The source did not specify how many people were hurt.
Video clips shared online showed the moment of impact and extensive damage to both vehicles. Witnesses told police the sports car had been traveling at high speed before hitting the stationary pickup.
Authorities said they are reviewing CCTV footage from the intersection and will carry out a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
