Phuket police recorded 39 cases and seized 26 firearms and 495 rounds of ammunition during a nine-day crackdown on illegal weapons across the province.

The operation, conducted from 12 to 20 August 2026 under the Centre for Coordination of the Suppression of Crime involving Firearms and Ammunition (CCOC), also resulted in the seizure of 13 firearm-related items. The 39 cases were recorded against a target of 45, with officers from 12 police stations involved, according to Phuket Provincial Police.

Police Major General Sinlert Sukhum, commander of Phuket Provincial Police, said on 22 August that the operation focused on intelligence gathering, identifying targets, searches and arrests involving the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

He said officers had been instructed to follow the law, regulations and police tactics strictly, while maintaining close coordination between units. Phuket police would continue proactive enforcement to prevent weapons from being used in violent crimes and to strengthen security across the province, he said.
