Phuket Red Cross gives aid to vulnerable residents in Sakhu

The Phuket Provincial Red Cross Chapter distributed essential supplies to vulnerable residents in Sakhu, Thalang, on Thursday, 15 October, including 289 sets of rice contributed by Airports of Thailand (AoT).

Chapter president Paweerasa Kerdsom presided over the distribution at the Islamic Ethics Training Center’s Sakhu branch. The initiative was held in observance of the anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s death on 13 October.

Recipients included elderly people, bedridden patients, people with disabilities, underprivileged young people and people living in poverty. The aid also covered disadvantaged residents in communities surrounding Phuket International Airport.

Paweerasa said the Thai Red Cross Society remained committed to assisting people in need, particularly vulnerable groups requiring additional support.

The event was organised by Thai Red Cross Station No. 14 in Phang Nga in collaboration with the Phuket Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security, the Sakhu and Mai Khao Tambon Administrative Organisations, community leaders, social development volunteers and the Phuket Provincial Red Cross Chapter.

Organisers said cooperation between government agencies, community organisations and volunteers was important for providing continued support and helping vulnerable residents maintain a dignified quality of life.
