A Thai motorcyclist working for a ride-hailing application suffered serious injuries after a foreign driver allegedly drove against the flow of traffic and collided with him in Phuket, according to a report carried by Phuket Times on Facebook on August 18, 2026.
The rider was taken to hospital with a fractured leg and a dislocated hip. His motorcycle was also severely damaged.
The man told Phuket Times that he had not received compensation from the foreign driver and was concerned that he would not receive justice. He appealed to local police and relevant government officials to take action and ensure the case was handled fairly.
He said he is a single father and the main breadwinner for his family. His one-year-eight-month-old son lives with relatives in Yala, while he works in Phuket to support him. The injuries have left him without an income, he said.
The driver’s nationality was not disclosed. The report did not identify the crash location or the police station handling the case, and it was not stated whether the driver remained in Thailand.
