Phuket singer Nene Royal to perform in America’s Got Talent quarterfinals

Sixteen-year-old Phuket singer and guitarist Nene Royal is scheduled to perform in the America’s Got Talent quarterfinals at 7am Thailand time on Wednesday, 26 August.

Nene Royal, whose full name is Rattkan Amloy, will perform during the second of four quarterfinal weeks at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California. The performance is due to air in the United States on Tuesday, 25 August.

She gained Thai and international attention after performing The Cranberries’ “Zombie” at the Dolby Theatre one day before her 16th birthday. The audition received four yes votes from the judges and became the season’s most-viewed audition video, according to The Thaiger.

At the Judges’ Callbacks, she performed Muse’s “Hysteria” and again received four yes votes, securing her place in the live rounds. Muse also shared footage of the performance on its official Instagram account.

The live rounds run from 18 August to 9 September on NBC, with performances broadcast on Tuesdays and results announced on Wednesdays. Each week, one judge will use a Golden Buzzer to send a quarterfinalist directly to the finals, while three other acts will advance to the semifinals through the audience vote.

Viewers in Thailand cannot vote. Voting is limited to viewers in the United States and Puerto Rico through the NBC America’s Got Talent voting website and the AGT app.

During the semifinals, viewers will choose six of 12 acts to advance to the finals. The judges will select another semifinalist, producing 11 finalists in total. The official AGT YouTube channel will publish Nene’s performance video after the competition, the report said.

Before travelling to the United States, Nene performed a farewell show at Naka Market in Phuket on 16 August with the OZONE band and artists from the SOUTHTOWN network. Phuket Governor Chotinrin Kerdsum attended the event.
