Four people have died in road accidents during Songkran celebrations in Phuket as of April 15, local authorities confirmed. The deaths occurred over the five-day holiday period, which saw increased traffic and travel across the island.

Accident Locations and Circumstances

Officials reported that fatalities took place in separate incidents across Kathu, Thalang, and Muang districts. One victim was a 27-year-old motorcyclist involved in a collision on Thepkrasattri Road.

Another incident occurred on Chao Fa West Road, where a pickup truck struck a pedestrian late at night. Police said alcohol consumption was suspected in two of the accidents.

Checkpoints set up across Phuket recorded 28 injuries and 34 accidents during the Songkran period, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.
