Phuket taxis on LPG remain unaffected by fuel price surge
Phuket taxis on LPG remain unaffected by fuel price surge — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Phuket taxis running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remain insulated from recent fuel price hikes, local transport officials confirmed on April 8. The LPG rate in Phuket has held steady, while petrol and diesel costs have risen sharply since last week.
LPG Price Stability and Taxi Operations
Officials said the majority of Phuket’s registered taxis use LPG, which has not been subject to the latest fuel price adjustments. This price stability has allowed drivers to maintain regular fares and service levels despite broader energy market volatility.
Petrol and diesel prices in Phuket increased by up to 8% over the past seven days, according to local fuel retailers. In contrast, LPG has stayed at THB 14.87 per litre, unchanged for over a month.
Transport authorities reported no requests from taxi operators for fare hikes or fuel subsidies. They attributed this to the widespread adoption of LPG-powered vehicles across the island’s taxi fleet.
