A Phuket teenager was praised after performing CPR on a foreign man who collapsed on a road in Kathu district on the night of May 7. The man reportedly fell outside a beverage stall, struck his head on the pavement and was left with a visible bleeding wound before the teenager revived him.
Teenager revived injured man before rescuers arrived
Images and video shared by Thai news outlets and Facebook pages showed the foreign man lying motionless on the road as the rescue unfolded.
DailyNews reported that the teenager, identified as Jojo, rushed from a nearby grilled pork stall where he was working and began CPR immediately. He continued until the man regained consciousness.
Witnesses then called rescue workers. Emergency responders gave first aid for the head injury and took the man to hospital.
Student’s actions draw praise online and at the scene
Jojo is a student at Kathu School and works part-time at the food stall after classes to support his education. His quick response drew praise from people at the scene and across social media, where many also noted his efforts to balance school and work.
The case is one of several recent incidents in Thailand involving young people stepping in during emergencies. In November 2024, a 12-year-old boy in Bangkok was praised after rescuing a 17-year-old girl from a suicide attempt at Krungthep Bridge over the Chao Phraya River.
Another case followed in September 2025 in Phetchabun, where a young boy swam through floodwaters to seek help for friends stranded while clinging to a tree. All of the children were later rescued safely.
