Phuket to host second Ganesh Chaturthi Festival from 14 to 18 September
The five-day festival will feature religious ceremonies, cultural performances and processions in Phuket Old Town before concluding with an immersion ceremony at Rawai Beach.
Phuket will host its second Ganesh Chaturthi Festival from 14 to 18 September 2026, with religious ceremonies, cultural performances and processions organised by the Shree Manta Ganapati Temple of Phuket.
The festival will open on 14 September with the installation of Lord Ganesha’s idol and auspicious rites. A procession through Phuket Old Town is scheduled to begin at 5.30pm, featuring traditional music, dance and devotional performances.
On 15 September, the programme will include morning Atharvashirsha recitations dedicated to women, followed by consecration rituals throughout the day. Sacred rites will continue on 16 September, along with an evening performance of Mahakaal by a sacred drum ensemble.
The 17 September programme will include further rituals, the offering of 56 traditional dishes known as Lappan Bhog, and Vedic chants.
The festival will conclude on 18 September with Ananta Chaturthi. After the final consecrations, the Lord Ganesha idol will be ceremonially immersed in the sea at Rawai Beach, symbolising his return to Mount Kailash.
Organisers have invited residents and tourists to attend the five-day celebration.
