Phuket tourism revenue reached B545.37 billion in 2025, governor says
Phuket Governor Chotinrin said the province welcomed more than 14.12 million tourists and visitors in 2025, while outlining a five-pillar plan to manage growth and its impact on residents.
Phuket recorded tourism revenue of B545.37 billion in 2025 after welcoming more than 14.12 million tourists and visitors, Phuket Governor Chotinrin said on 6 August.
Speaking to senior executives and students from the 24th cohort of the Advanced Certificate in Public Economic Administration for Senior Executives programme at the King Prajadhipok Institute, Chotinrin said Phuket’s gross provincial product was B272.395 billion. Annual per-capita income stood at B439,632, the highest in Southern Thailand and 13th nationally, he said.
The governor said tourism and services accounted for 96.7% of the province’s economy. He also said Phuket’s resident population exceeded 1.25 million, although only about 423,600 people were officially registered. The wider figure includes people from other provinces, foreign workers and long-stay visitors, according to Chotinrin.
He said rapid economic growth had increased pressure on infrastructure, public services, environmental conservation, public safety and residents’ quality of life.
Chotinrin outlined a five-pillar development strategy focused on strengthening the local economy, promoting higher-value tourism, improving quality of life, protecting natural resources, and enhancing public safety and urban management.
The delegation is visiting Phuket from 5-7 August to study economic development, tourism management and public administration. Chotinrin later joined Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation President Rewat Areerob and other speakers at a forum on the province’s economy, tourism and environmental conservation.
