Phuket Vegetarian Festival set for 10-18 October as firms renew support

Phuket’s Vegetarian Festival will take place from 10 to 18 October 2026, with Sansiri and Siam Commercial Bank renewing their support for the event for a 14th consecutive year.

The companies announced the programme at Jui Tui Tao Bo Keng Shrine in Phuket under the theme “Continuing Goodness, Growing Sustainably”. Shrine-cleaning activities will be held on 4 and 5 October.

The volunteer programme will involve Sansiri residents from 23 Phuket developments, Siam Commercial Bank customers and employees. They will help clean six major shrines: Sam Ong Hu in Cherng Talay, Sam Kong, Bang Niew, Bang Khu Sam Kuan Tong, Jui Tui Tao Bo Keng and Kathu.

Sansiri and the bank said the festival reflects more than 200 years of cultural heritage and has become an international event. They said it attracts more than 650,000 travellers a year, covers more than 40 shrines across Phuket and generates more than B5.7 billion in economic activity over nine days, while supporting more than 4,500 local jobs.

The festival is registered as national intangible cultural heritage. The companies also described it as a model green festival, citing reduced carbon emissions, plant-based food and social equality through shared vegetarian dining, with participants traditionally wearing white.

As part of the 2026 programme, Sansiri and local Phuket brand YAYEE will produce “Scent of Legacy” sachets using leftover batik fabric. The companies said the sachets will be sewn by women in correctional facilities and local elderly groups, creating income and reducing waste under a circular-economy approach.

Local coffee business BEANS Coffee Roaster will provide special vegetarian drinks for volunteers and participants. Siam Commercial Bank will also continue its “SCB Chuan Kan Tham Dee” initiative, encouraging employees and customers to take part in local cultural and community activities.
