Phuket warned of heavy rain and flash-flood risk from October 5 to 6
The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms across 60% of the area, with isolated heavy rain in Phuket and nearby Andaman provinces.
Phuket is forecast to experience thunderstorms across 60% of the area, with isolated heavy rain, as the Thai Meteorological Department warns of flash floods and sudden runoff in upper Thailand from October 4 to 7, 2026.
The warning covers October 5 and 6, when unsettled weather is expected across the upper South, including Phuket. Heavy or accumulated rainfall could trigger flooding and runoff from higher ground, particularly near foothills, waterways and in low-lying areas. Standing water is also possible.
The department said the weather is being driven by a high-pressure system from China interacting with the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
Winds and waves in the Andaman Sea are expected to strengthen. Waves are forecast at around one metre but may exceed two metres during thundershowers.
Residents are advised to monitor weather updates, beware of gusty winds and avoid open areas, large trees and unsecured billboards. Mariners should check their routes, navigate carefully and avoid travelling through thundershowers.
