Phuket warned of heavy rain and storm waves through October 25

The Thai Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain and hazardous sea conditions in Phuket and other parts of Thailand through October 25, 2026.

Thunderstorms are forecast across 70% of Thailand’s west coast on October 20, with isolated heavy rain in Phuket, Ranong, Phang Nga and Krabi. Temperatures in the region are expected to range from 23–24°C overnight to 30–33°C during the day.

Winds along the west coast will be variable at 15–30 kilometres per hour. Waves are expected to be about one metre but could rise above two metres in thunderstorm areas, the department said.

The TMD warned that prolonged and accumulated rainfall could cause flash floods, sudden run-off and mudslides, particularly near foothills, waterways and low-lying areas. People were advised to monitor further weather announcements and take care when travelling through areas prone to flooding.

Mariners were told to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing through thunderstorms because of the risk of high waves. The broader warning covers parts of southern, eastern, central and northeastern Thailand, as well as Bangkok and surrounding provinces.
