Phuket officials, tourism representatives and residents welcomed 16-year-old singer and guitarist Nene Royal, also known as Praew–Rattikan Amloy, at Phuket International Airport on 29 August after her appearance on America’s Got Talent Season 21, The Phuket Express reported.
Governor Chotnirin Kerdsom presented Nene with a Phuraya Inhaler, described as a signature local product, during the homecoming ceremony. Phuket Airport Director Monchai Tahanod, Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket Director Sirivan Singharach, government officials, private-sector representatives and media also attended.
According to the report, Nene received a Golden Buzzer from judge Mel B during the quarterfinals, advancing her to the season’s grand finale. She also incorporated traditional Thai textiles into her performance outfits, presenting a modern interpretation of Thai fashion to international audiences.
Residents and local organisations prepared banners, vinyl signs and LED displays for her return. The TAT Phuket office also arranged a “Welcome Home, Nene!” projection mapping display on the Charter Bank building in Phuket Old Town.
Nene is expected to spend the next few weeks focusing on her studies and preparing for the final, before returning to the United States near the end of September, the report said.
