Guru’s Weekly Buzz for May 1-7 spotlights a packed run of lifestyle and entertainment events, including Phuket White Collar Boxing at Angsana Laguna Phuket on May 9 and a string of Bangkok food, film and music dates. The weekly selection, published May 1, ranges from a Nepalese film screening and a national dance final to restaurant promotions, a regional concert tour and a retail health campaign.
Phuket bout and regional performance dates
Angsana Convention and Exhibition Space at Angsana Laguna Phuket will host Phuket White Collar Boxing on May 9. Organisers describe it as a challenge event for people with little or no boxing background.
The event will also support the Children First Fund, a Laguna Phuket foundation serving underprivileged children across four orphanages in Phuket.
Indonesian-American singer-songwriter lullaboy is also returning to Thailand on his second Asia tour. His 90-minute show is scheduled for Artspace Bantadthong on July 28 as part of a nine-city run across July and August.
Film, dance, dining and retail promotions
The 2026 Contemporary World Film Series opens at TK Park on May 9 with Nepal’s “Hijo Aja Ka Kura,” adapted from a television series that ran for 18 years. The Embassy of Nepal will host a reception after the screening, with Ambassador Dhan Bahadur Oli set to introduce the film.
Red Bull Dance Your Style Thailand National Finals 2026 will be held at Hua Lamphong on May 8, bringing together 12 finalists and four wild cards. The winner will advance to the world final in Zurich, Switzerland.
ABar Rooftop at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park will host a bar takeover by Bella, head bartender from Jakarta speakeasy Osmo, on May 8. A contemporary lotus flower installation will launch on May 2 and continue evolving each month.
Boots Retail Thailand has launched its “Thais Support Thais With Boots” campaign under the “Boots - Best For Less” concept. The campaign covers more than 900 items, while the chain said it has also reduced prices on more than 160 medicines through the government’s “Healthy Body, Happy Wallet” initiative.
