Police hunt suspects in separate knife, iron bar attacks

Police are searching for suspects after two violent assaults involving weapons occurred in Phuket on consecutive days, with one incident on Thepkrasattri Rd in Srisoonthorn, Thalang, early Saturday and another near Bang Wad Dam in Kathu late Friday. Both cases, which involved a knife attack following a traffic collision and an iron bar assault during a dispute among teenagers, have prompted official investigations and widespread public attention.

Knife Attack After Traffic Collision in Thalang

CCTV footage widely circulated online captured the moment a sedan driver argued with 19-year-old Chakrit Jindawong, then retrieved a knife from his vehicle and chased the motorcyclist along the roadside. The altercation began after the Honda City car cut in front of Mr Chakrit’s white Honda motorcycle, causing a collision.

The confrontation escalated near the Khao Lan intersection, where the driver attacked Mr Chakrit with a knife, resulting in injuries before fleeing. Mr Chakrit reported the incident to Thalang Police Station, and officers are working to identify the suspect.

Iron Bar Assault Near Bang Wad Dam

Police are also seeking an unidentified man who attacked a group of teenagers with an iron bar near the entrance to Bang Wad Dam in Kathu at approximately 11:25pm on Friday. Video footage shows a group of youths arguing, followed by a man in a hat and face mask entering the scene and striking several individuals, including two women.

Initial reports indicate the conflict began as a dispute between two groups of women who had arranged to meet, but violence erupted when the man intervened. Two people sustained injuries, underwent X-rays and medical checks, and filed complaints at Kathu Police Station. Officers are reviewing CCTV and collecting evidence in both cases.
