Police have identified and questioned a suspected driver after Russian national Irina Sukhorukova, 42, was killed while crossing Thepkrasattri Rd in Koh Kaew early on July 20, Phuket City Police Chief Col Chatree Chukaew said.
The suspected vehicle was a black Toyota Hilux Revo pickup driven by a 38-year-old man identified by police only as Mr Anusorn, from Srisoonthorn. No charges had been filed as of July 30, as investigators continued gathering evidence and reviewing the incident, Col Chatree said.
Police have located three vehicles connected to the crash, but Col Chatree declined to provide details about the other vehicles or people involved, saying the information had to remain confidential while the investigation continued.
Police initially reported that Sukhorukova was found dead near Boat Lagoon at about 5am, with no vehicles located at the scene. Investigating officer Pol Lt Col Natthee Phichitchainithimeth later said investigators believed she had been struck by a pickup truck before another vehicle travelling behind ran over her body. He said the full sequence of events remained unclear.
