Police prevent woman’s suicide attempt on Phuket bridge
Police calmed and escorted an unnamed Thai woman from the Thao Thepkasattri Bridge after she parked her black Mercedes-Benz in the middle of the crossing.
Police prevented an unnamed Thai woman from attempting suicide on the Thao Thepkasattri Bridge in Phuket on Thursday, 30 July 2026, after she parked a black Mercedes-Benz in the middle of the crossing.
Witnesses alerted officers at Tha Chatchai Police Station, who went to the bridge and spoke with the woman, described by authorities as Thai with blonde hair. Officers calmed her and escorted her safely from the bridge before taking her to the police station.
Police contacted her relatives and arranged appropriate assistance. The incident occurred while authorities were searching for 33-year-old Kanthaporn Churasri, who police said had jumped from the same bridge on Tuesday evening, 28 July. Her body was found on Thursday at Dan Yid Beach in Mai Khao, near Phuket International Airport.
Police have not disclosed what prompted either incident. The Thao Thepkasattri Bridge links Phuket with Phang Nga and has been the site of several fatal jumps.
