Police raided an illegal vehicle pawn network in Phuket’s Thalang district on April 28, arresting two suspects and seizing 19 vehicles valued at 1,562,000 baht. Region 8 Police said the operation targeted two locations in Thepkrasattri under warrants issued by the Phuket Provincial Court.
The suspects were identified only as “Got,” 29, and his 29-year-old partner, “Bew.” Officers also seized loan contracts, debt repayment records and other financial transaction evidence during the searches.
Seized assets and money trail
Authorities confiscated three cars and 16 motorcycles linked to the operation. Police said the combined value of the vehicles was estimated at 1,562,000 baht.
Investigators also found a cash flow of more than 500,000 baht circulating within the network. The evidence was taken with the suspects to support the case.

Facebook advertising and loan terms
Police said the pair ran an unlicensed pawn and loan business and used Facebook posts to find customers. The ads offered to buy or accept motorcycles and cars as pawned property, including vehicles without registration documents, while promising high payouts without intermediaries.
Borrowers were required to hand over vehicles as collateral in return for cash loans. Police said the network charged interest as high as 5 percent per day, equal to 20 percent per month, and collected payments by bank transfer.
The pair were charged with operating a pawnshop without authorization and granting loans with interest rates above legal limits. Both were handed over to Thalang Police Station with the seized evidence for further legal proceedings.
